I needed my speakers in a specific location (up, from the floor) and this does the trick wonderfully. Once I set the height and placed the stands where needed, the end result was perfect (and this is on a carpeted floor). I can reach the speakers, adjust controls, and these stands aren't shaky at all. I imagine if this was used "correctly", they would be just fine for that use as well.
