Looks ok in the box but that's about it, the cutting heads were of poor-quality steel (incorrect grade of steel for purpose chosen) and blunt not sharpened correctly. Would not recommend this product.

Very poor-quality control. The 25MM is cracked in several spots that you can see right out of the box. Other punches are not hardened all the way around on the cutting edge. Also, there are burrs on the cutting edge that will reduce the life of the punch. Also, some of the punches are dirty. I wouldn't recommend this product to anyone who would use these punches all the time. While the seller was really quick to ship, that doesn't make up for a poor-quality product.

These punches seem to me to be as good as any I’ve had - in my craft - I’m a pipe organ builder - we use them a lot - we punch a lot of rings too, using a set that you mount two concentric punches on, which I’ve had since I did my apprenticeship in Germany starting almost 50 years ago - we always a wooden block with end grain up - “butcher block” and ideally oak - which allows the punch to go all the way through the material you’re punching discs out of and into the wood grain. Because the strands of cells in the tree are vertical - and oak has big pores too - the punches can go right in and don’t even need to be that sharp! If you’re banging against a hard surface, at the microscopic level, the edge of the punch is squishing the material you’re punching against the substrate and really would need to be razor sharp to work. Not when you’re punch against end grain!

only using it on thin cardboard and felt - works OK - not sure how it would work on more durable or thicker materials - like heavy leather.
