When these first came out, I doubted that there was really any need for sanding sponges.However being a curious fellow I thought I would try them out and see if they would replace good old sandpaper or if Tamiya were just because my weird.I make model kits and do a lot of war game figure painting.I have found that the flexibility of the sponges has mad a world of difference to me modelling.It is so much easier to be precise and retain model detail.They work great on practice and resins and the various grades are all useful in some way but I tend to stick to the finest grain.Very easy to cut to shape and size required, either scissors or a craft knife work fine for this job.It is worth experimenting to find which grade is best for you.I do tend to get through it quit quickly though and it isn’t cheap to keep buying, but on the whole I would say that if you are serious about modelling these sponges are not essential but a worthwhile luxury
