Per chi si vuole addentrare nel genere è perfetto, offre molti spunti ed esempi graduali per arrivare a fare dei brani completi nello stile. Il livello di difficoltà varia da esempi piuttosto semplici fino a fraseggi e passaggi più stimolanti ed impegnativi. Dal mio punto di vista meglio se si ha già un minimo di basi teoriche (per comprendere a fondo e fare proprio tutto il materiale) ma non è necessario.

Neo Soul is my most favourite genre and its really awesome to see more and more material devoted to this highly groovey and sophisticated style. Its mostly jazz theory from ground up that pertains to particular Neo Soul signature sounds and grooves. Its covers a large field and imbibes concepts from funk, gospel, RnB, Hip Hop and Jazz of course. Most contemporary black music is derivative of Jazz and its rich legacy continuing in current time in its most dynamic form. I would also recommend Truefire's Rory Rhonde's video course and its associated Guitar Pro files and pdf charts for an excellent duo for recently released Neo Soul Guitar playing. Note that there are not many books like this for this particular genre, so even if you know your licks from listening and transcribing its really good to see proper research put together in these formats. I discovered Neo Soul 3 years back(!) inspite of years of listening to multiple genres and Jazz mostly because I used to avoid hip hop of the commercial variety. I started making beats very veryt similar to Neo Soul beattapes but never knew what to call it, after years of soul searching I could not believe my eyes when I finally got to read and learn more about this style. I got to Neo Soul from Gospel keyboards like John Peters and beattapes from the Hip Hop community, that is, once I started digging for authentic stuff and hit J Dilla and his legacy some 5 years ago. Period, really hit my head hard and cant go back anymore. Real deal abou t jazz and neo soul is the swing aspect of rythmic grooves, chord tone soloing, bebop framework, pentatonics, guitar positions and multiple positions, chord inversions and chord substitutions, barry harris diminished scale method, Pat Martino linear expressions and so on. Lots of paradigms and they all interlink and sound good end of the day. The first time I heard it for real I had to sit down and get the swing feel inside my soul and mind and it took one whole evening and then dreaming about it to get it right. The next morning I was swingin' hard.Another genre to particularly focus on is the Bebop genre and the Soul Jazz genre. I basically just picked the guitar after years of keyboard playing and find that the Jazz guitar opens up your note and soloing and comping ideas to a whole other world with superb interesting challenges to work out and then reap benefits from. My years of keyboard playing obviously made me catching it up on the guitar a very quick process(or maybe I am just gifted ). Anyways, been just over a year and I am already playing local shows and doing production grade stuff on my guitar. Also I now travel with 3 guitar processors and a drum machine very different from my mostly keyboards oriented setup for years now. i am loving this instrument and I am very happy that I can enjoy this skillset so soon and digest all this material and also put it to work on my keyboards in parallel.Outstanding work done on the book, highly recommended.
