After trying multiple digital devices from the local hardware store (which either did not work or broke quickly), decided to try the old school way. These are just so much better! Would recommend to anyone trying to find studs in their drywall!

This is a straightforward and effective tool. Now that I have one, I want to kick myself for not building my own with a few rare-earth magnets and scrap wood. However, the past is past. As for the product, it works well and makes it hard to screw up and miss a stud. I am happy to have them for various projects rather than fiddle with a higher-tech option that often fails to work right.

Yes, these are a little expensive for a pair of strong magnets encased in plastic. However, the number of times I've already used them over my electronic stud finder has more than made up for that fact. There's something so pleasantly straightforward about finding studs with this tool; it's made the installation of my built-in bookshelf a breeze.
