The Victress Sessions: Classical Pop Piano Solos Inspired By Female Composers

I enjoyed playing through these contemporary pieces inspired by female classical composers. Besides Clara Schumann, I really had not had previous exposure to the classical composers Andrea Dow sought out as inspiration for her pieces. I ended up researching their nationalities and the dates when they lived/composed (i.e., Amy Beach was American and lived from 1867-1944). This information would be a great detail to include in the book! The pieces were easy to learn, and I have been able to use them as preludes/postludes when playing for church services. My request would be for Andrea Dow to compose a second volume of songs inspired by female composers! I also really like "The Amadeus Anthems," another of her books!

I have been so impressed with this resource and love the link between fabulous Classical composers and the appeal of the pop styled arrangements, paired with such a fun presentation. Bravo! Highly recommend!

Another session of beautiful music by the talented Andrea Dow. I have all in the series, and I personally love playing them myself. Excited for my students to progress so they can experience the inspiring music within.

My students are just getting to the level where they can start learning pieces from the Sessions books. In the meantime, I keep buying them to play myself!

In the last year, I have purchased several of the "sessions" books, and they have all been incredible! The Victress Sessions have been a particular favorite of mine and my older students. These have been the perfect transition out of method books for my intermediate/late intermediate students. I enjoy this one in particular because it offers inspiration to my students (girls in particular) and introduces them to prominent female composers. I have even had parents ask for their student to play more of these because the family enjoys hearing them so much!
