I am a home assistant neophyte, so while you may get more informative reviews from some other people, if you're new to the game, I can tell you what it's going to be like. I paired this device to my home assistant with ZHA, and the connection was smooth and flawless. I've since been able to move it around the home and test it in various configs, before settling on its permanent home in my bathroom. It has 5 stages of sensitivity. I demoed the wide range for curiosities sake and detection worked pretty well, but I was more impressed with the short ranges. On my bathroom counter behind my sink, on a 1, i have to enter the room to trigger the sensor, on a 2, doorway line of sight is sufficient. And after playing with it for a few minutes I found there to be little overlap between those lines, the sensitivity seems pretty consistent. "detected" and "clear" show up as states for creating automations, and it was simple to make my bathroom lights react to motion during night hours. I don't know if there are better motion sensors on the market, I can only speak for this one, but I sure do like it!

Funktioniert super, aber es sollte klar sein dass es sich um einen Bewegungsmelder handelt und nicht um einen Präsenzsensor.

Soooooo.....yeah. I have a BUNCH of ThirdReality's zigbee sensors. They really make some of the best vibration, door, motion, and water sensors on the market. I LOVE the local control and privacy focused aspects of zigbee networks. As a whole I'd give ThirdReality's sensors 4.5 stars.THIS sensor is a little different. If you're a home automation nerd you probably know a bit about presence sensing. The graphic on this sensor IS the presence sensing graphic...and they don't technically market this as a presence sensor. It IS marketed as MOTION sensing. So it feels like a bait and switch because of the graphic and underlying tech it's using...."radar"....but it's 5.8GHz. For more competent presence sensing you really need at least 24GHz. So yeah, this basically has the same capabilities as a cheap PIR motion sensor, but it's slightly slower, chonky, and 2-3x the price.I don't mean to be negative....it's very well built....it uses 3 AAA batteries which is nice for longevity (hopefully) and ease of swapping. Nothing better than finding out your sensor uses some bizarre battery you need to order and wait on. It's convenient because it can be placed anywhere. It's zigbee so it's an ideal connection. And it DOES do a great job detecting motion. It just doesn't continue to detect you if you're sitting still.Either way I'll continue to buy and use ThirdReality's products because they're fantastic as a general rule....but for battery powered motion sensing I'll pick up their PIR motion sensors when they're on sale for half the price of this one. When I need presence sensing I'll pick up an Aqara FP1E or an Everything Presence Sensor.

I use an older Smartthings V2 hub. The instructions for this device have a QR code, but it is not for adopting the sensor to your system. I used the "scan" option in my Smartthings app and it was discovered as a ZigBee generic sensor. After selecting/adopting the sensor, it initially didn't show in my list of devices - after closing/restarting the app the sensor appeared. The sensor seems to work very well. It has no problem detecting me across the longest open section in my house, which is about 30ft. I did try setting the sensor against a window (looking out), but even at the highest sensitivity the detection distance was decreased to about 10ft.I really like that the sensor uses AA batteries, And particularly that it works with rechargeable NiMH batteries. (I've lost too many devices to leaking alkaline batteries).I'll use this to automate a light in the evening hours.

It only took a few minutes to set this up with Home Assistant. It connected to my existing Zigbee network without any issues at all. The + and - buttons on the top of the sensor made it easy to get the exact room coverage I wanted. The motion sensor worked excellent while I was setting it up. I created an automation to brighten the light covering the room’s entry steps when motion was detected. It worked flawlessly until I turned on a fan to suck cool air into the room at night. The light I was using must have brightened and dimmed a hundred times that first night.I could not recreate the trouble just running the fan, but every time I run the fan with cooler than room temperature air, the device detects motion over and over. The Thirdreality motion sensor did not work for my application, but it is a nice device, and it should work well for lots of other applications. After 3 days, the battery still shows 100%, and I suspect the batteries will last a very long time based on my experience with other Zigbee devices.
