I liked the fact that the panels are connected by hinges. The pot support wires, also of titanium, install with little effort. The large opening makes supplying fuel easy and convenient. The only flaw is missing holes for the wires that allow mounting an alcohol stove. The listed picture shows the holes, not the actual item received did not have them. One star taken off.

This stove is a bit smaller than I expected it to be, but still big enough to put a kettle or a small pan on. The small size may actually be a benefit as this is going into a camping kit, so saving space is a good thing. Construction seems solid and I'm sure the titanium will last a long time.

These stick stoves are very cool. You can absolutely get a nice hot fire going in this and boil water with fuel you found on the ground. I love that it folds flat instead of taking up an awkward amount of space in your pack. All you need to add to it is a way to make fire. It's very appealing that this little stove enables you to cook with relative convenience as long as you have dry sticks and a way to get them lit. This one is easy to put together and of course it serves as its own pot stand. It allows plenty of air in while containing the heat enough to really cook over it.There are downsides, of course, that may have you reaching for your rocket stove again after taking this out once.Any wood fire is going to coat the bottom of your pot or pan with soot. You either need a way to clean that soot thoroughly in the field or keep it away from the rest of the stuff in your pack. Another tradeoff is that you actually need dry wood and proper tinder. You may have to sit there and shave a bunch of wet bark off sticks while your friends are just lighting up their alcohol burners and getting on with it. You trade the flexibility of using whatever little wood you find for the chores of having to gather and prep that wood. Also, you can't just shut off a wood fire like you can a gas burner. You need to have extra water around to douse this. You also need to tend a wood fire and it's much harder to control the heat than it is with a gas burner. I think that makes this really well suited for boiling water more than anything else. Some parks don't allow these, other places only allow these. Check the rules wherever you're going. I think it's worth having one of these as an option, because they really are cool and fun and don't cost that much. Just know what you're getting into.
