Wat op viel aan deze TOPPING D90 III Sabre dac was de soundstage en plaatsing met hele goede opnamen, met wat gewonere muziek is het laagmidden wat dun en daar door het midden wat te mager, dat is wel dan bij mijn dual mono triode tube amp. Duidelijk is dat deze nieuwe ontwikkeling bij Sabre de es9039 pro nieuwe dac chips veel potentie heeft voor de toekomst, nog een beetje door ontwikkelen....groots !!!Cheers

Il mio impianto stere adesso si sente meglio!

This DAC is clearly an upgrade over my previous DAC that I bought four years ago, and at half the purchase price! I won't use a lot of audiophile slang here to describe its performance, so suffice to say this DAC makes my system sound more like live music.I'm surprised at how tiny this DAC is; it's no bigger than a large paperback book, but its controls have a nice feel, and its build quality is solid.It was easy to set up: I didn't need to download and manually run an installation program on my laptop PC to install its custom USB driver; the DAC uploaded it automatically to the PC. I only had to to configure the PC's audio player (JRiver) to use the new driver.For best sound in the setup menu, I turned the DAC's Bluetooth OFF, as I won't be using it. There are six filter settings to choose from; Mode3 (Linear Phase, Fast Roll-off) sounds best to me. If using the XLR outputs, raising the XLR voltage from 4 to 5 volts, helps. Sound Mode OFF.Other tweaks I did for best sound: I Earth grounded the DAC's chassis, and covered the DAC's unused ports with metal caps, or copper foil tape. For listening to Internet radio on a web browser, the DAC allows raising the PC's audio output sampling rate. I chose 352.8 Kbps, because it's the highest exact multiple of CD's 44.1 Kbps. To play local files, I set up the PC's audio playback to 705.6 Kbps for CD's base rate of 44.1, and 768 Kbps for DVD's base rate of 48 or 96 Kbps.Finally, you don't need to do all these tweaks to get excellent sound of this DAC; it's great just as it is, right out of the box! But these things can make great even greater.

最初は音に軽さを感じたが、エイジングが進むごとに音に実在感が出てくるようだ。そうなるとカタログ値通りのSNの良さが生きてくる。音の細やかさにリアリティが加わるということだ。

Replacement of my 4-year old dac. It updates my audiophile system especially high frequencies. You might need to update to 1.23 firmware, otherwise, you will find setting menu does not match user’s manual. Even with such an annoying bug, I still give it 5 stars review for it’s performance.

2x ESS 9039SPRO DAC Chips, 1 pro Kanal. Fast schon zuviel des Guten, aber es hebt die Dynamikwerte nochmal an. Auch die Ausgangsstufen (discrete Opamps) sind von sehr hoher Qualität. Über XLR klingt das Ganze überragend, 2-3 Klassen höher als der Preis vermuten lässt. Jemand sagte in einer anderen Rezension "klingt dünn in der Mitte", das sehe ich ganz anders, und ich weiß absolut wovon ich spreche - da Profimusiker! Der DAC klingt warm, gerade voll und natürlich in der Mitte und sehr direkt und exakt im unteren Bereich. Beide Top-of-the-Line DACs von Topping - D90 III Sabre und D90 Discrete - haben ihre Stärken. Ich habe ganz bewusst den Sabre gewählt. Vielleicht hat der Discrete einen etwas tieferen Soundstage, aber ich bin in erster Linie interessiert an ein "Detail-Monster" und das ist der D90 Sabre definitiv. Wer alles hören will, was es in einer Aufnahme zu hören gibt, auch die winzigsten Details, liegt mit diesem DAC ganz richtig. Empfehlung!
