Bought these a long time ago and came back to buy again; decided I should leave a review because these are EXCELLENT.Once upon a time I bought a cheap, generic, lesser brand of legal pads. Those were dark times. The paper felt like I was writing on thick tin foil. I couldn't tear off a sheet without mangling the paper. The top of the pad where the sheets attach looked like it had been through a shredder.Then I discovered these gift-from-the-heavens legal pads. They tear off perfectly. Scientists at the Large Hadron Collider are still trying to discover a way to arrange atoms along an edge smoother than the seams where one of these paper sheets is torn off. They look and feel so high quality that when you pull one of these puppies out at a corporate meeting, everyone in the room goes, "By Jove, that guy is going to run the business someday." When you touch the tip of a 0.7mm BIC Gelocity pen to the surface of these sheets, they make sweet music together to the tune of perfectly handwritten notes.Don't buy your legal pads from anywhere else. Never again.And no, this review was NOT written by ChatGPT; just your average, concerned citizen who maybe cares a little too much about not using crappy legal pads. That said, if Tops wants to pay me for my review, I accept payment in the form of more legal pads...

Tops legal pads are the absolute best! Thick, sturdy cardboard backing (like they all used to be in the 1970's), paper is bright and heavy too. I really dislike droopy legal pads. I like computers, but there's nothing like working the day using legal pads in small and large sizes, to make lists, draw, formulate contracts etc. It's really hard to be focused and creative when I'm fighting with a limp-legal pad!The "old school" mom & pop stationary store in town had only 1 choice of heavy pads but cost $16 each! I believe it was an English import paper company. I really wanted to see & feel the pads, but finally decided to trust Amazon's reviews and descriptions and found TOPS. Bought a pack of large & small and couldn't be happier. Well worth the price.I used to live in a Third World Country where everything was thin, and bad quality... much like all the energy saving products we love today in the US - So, I just don't waste it and enjoy the beauty of good quality paper!

I hate cheap legal pads. As a lawyer currently taking a break from practice, I still want high quality legal pads for use at home.The paper quality is excellent for a moderately priced legal pad. I have experienced no dragging or catching when using fountain pens and no bleeding when using ink, gel, and permanent pens/markers.Each page tears accurately from the top of the pad, even when tearing multiple pages at the same time.I personally prefer to utilize folios with my legal pads, but the cardboard backing on these pads are strong enough to use sans folio.Overall, I find these legal pads of high quality. I have purchased them multiple times and will continue to do so.
