Perfect. I use this for gouache and the paint doesn't dry out for months, even longer if you mist it with water after each use! As a tip, add a couple of drops of clove oil to a spray bottle of water to prevent mold!

perfect for my gouache

I use this for artists gouache and Golden OPEN acrylics. I'm thinking of getting another for acrylic gouache and will add slow fluid retarding medium for insurance. I might even try one for oils. But oils will get crusty faster and must be kept in the fridge. Small tubes of oil are pretty useful and almost the same size. I could see this being useful for watercolor but it's not really necessary. If you do leave the lid off and only fill the pans half full so you have room for plenty of water. But very useful and compact. Keep it level and the contents will last you for quite some time. If you need them to last longer keep in the fridge. When out in the field painting, keep the silicone part of the lid either loosely on (if acrylic) or in a plastic bag to keep it from getting dry and crusty, depending on what medium you use.

I purchased this as a gift for my daughter after she requested it for one of her birthday gifts. No complaints with it. Nice and sturdy and does everything she wants from it. She would definitely have another one if she had the need for one.
