A physics professor - who is a fountain pen nut - recommended TWSBI pens to me as the best in the world. I believed him and ordered one straight away, and I've been using it for several weeks. So far, it's wonderful:- the fine nib actually works, and writes beautifully without clogging or drying, even if I pause for thought. I have a much more expensive Sheaffer pen where the fine nib has never worked, no matter how much I cleaned it.- it holds a lot of ink, and you can see how much ink is inside.- the body is a little short, but the top screws on to lengthen it: a nice feature is that the top can screw on in two different ways, so you can adjust the position of the clip while you are writing.- during a change in pressure in flight, the pen was on its side, and it did not leak ink as the pressure inside the plane dropped...So if you are old fashioned and vain enough to use fountain pens, I think this is the brand to buy.

La penna scrive bene, il serbatoio è capiente e nel complesso fa un'ottima figura!

I bought this pen so that I could use shimmer ink. It is wonderful. It is one of my favorite pens that I use every single day. I mean seriously if you can write with shimmer ink, why would you write with any other kind of ink? Also the calligraphy nib is wonderful. It makes my handwriting look like calligraphy. This pen is very easy to clean and even with the shimmer does not clog.

Much can be found online about TWSBI, their interactions with their customers, and how well priced their pens are. I'll try to be a little different.I purchased a 580 and this Mini and have been heavily using them for about 1 month. There are no signs of wear, and the plastic looks great. If you are trying to choose between the 580 and Mini here are some differences I didn't realize until I was using them, or that should be mentioned.- The Mini's piston does a full sweep of the barrel, the 580 has a 1/4 inch that contains ink, but is not swept. Perhaps silly, but I prefer the Mini's full sweep.- The Mini's threads at the top of the pen, don't look as nice, but make the pen post wonderfully.- The Mini's nib and feed are much more difficult to separate, and perhaps impossible without special tools or feed destruction. The 580 nib and feeds can separate which makes cleaning easier.Its funny, but using these pens in public draws a surprising amount of mostly positive attention, and you are forced to be somewhat of a fountain pen evangelist. The one negative (to me) comment came when I was holding the mini in the "classic" black and clear guise to my chin in thought. The person was horrified to think that I was smoking an e-cig... Later I googled e-cig images. I try not to hold the pen to my face anymore.
