This is a hoodie made with UPF 50+ protection, which means that only 1/50th of UV light is able to penetrate the material (2%), giving you adequate protection from the sun's harmful rays. I've started being more conscious about the irradiation of the body so I tend to wear UPF material in the summer. I am usually a medium but since it looks like "slinky" material in the photos, I went with a large, and I'm glad I did, it gives me a bit more room. The shirt is a bit longer (even after factoring in the large size), but it looks alright since I can just partially tuck an edge in. Material is smooth and looks a bit glossy. Thumb loops on it can help protect your hands from radiation too.

I typically prefer my sweatshirts to have a fitted design, rather than a loose or oversized fit. I usually wear a size small, but this particular hoodie appeared to be more aligned with a medium size in reality. This discrepancy in sizing was a bit disappointing, as I was looking for a more fitted silhouette.In terms of aesthetics, I have to mention that the hoodie gives off a somewhat cheap and silky appearance, which detracted from my overall impression of it. While it certainly serves its primary function of sun protection and being lightweight, I was hoping for a more polished look and feel. All in all, while the hoodie does perform as advertised in terms of sun protection and functionality, I do find that it is not true to size and lacks a sense of quality that I would have preferred. This sun protective shirt is quite nice quality and really lightweight and easy to wear. It is so thin and silky smooth that it kind of feels like nothing almost (but in a good way). For the summer months this is likely to be a major benefit with the UPF rating. Wearing long sleeves can get frustrating when you're sweating buckets, but I think this shirt will solve that issue.It has lots of stretch and fits approximately correctly to the size guide. The purple is true to the photos and very nice, kind of lilac/lavender in colour. It also has good opacity. The shirt washes well so far and has shown no signs of pilling or pulling.I think this would also work really nicely as a base layer in winter because of the lightweight fabric and stretch. Obviously if you wear clothing over it, the UPF rating is sort of moot, but the hood can still serve in that regard anyway.This is quite versatile and comfortable to wear.
