The idea of a wooden mirror is quite nice, however in practice it presents some challenges.Placement of the mirror inherently means it’ll get the occasional splash of espresso pour. When it comes to cleaning, the wood is a soft variety that means it absorbs water slightly, that makes me question the longevity or how stain resistant it might be in the long term. A hard and perhaps treated wood like the wooden espresso tamper and leveler I have might be better material choices. Also the hard ridges between the mirror and wooden rim means awkward crevices to wipe clean. Perhaps if it was finely machined to the edge of the mirror glass might make a difference.Another aspect is placement. I don’t think the mirror angle is adequate, to be able to see the espresso pour if it was side mounted to the back of the espresso machine. So placement on the tabletop rather than side mounted seems the compromise.

Einfacher Artikel zum flachen Preis. Man kann damit die bodenlose Extraktion beobachten. Kein Spitzenprodukt.

Ordered June 2024 - and my item still has like other reviews the rough finishing mentionedStrong magnet, limited rotation, good sticker base, coated wood but rough finishingI had some beeswax so treated the edge of the wooden ring by mirror with a good coating of wax to help shield it from water. Can buy cheaper and with much more choice from AliEx** but you have the long wait of at least 7 days. The wood colour is ok - if a little bright.

This magnetic mounting mirror arrived in a plain white cardboard box packed with some bubble wrap keeping it safe in storage and shipping. The mirror surface has a protective plastic cover that has an easy pull tab to help remove it on arrival, which is always a nice touch. The mounting arm with the ball joint is all metal and is nicely finished with a blemish free coating. There is a fair bit of motion from the joint and it’s quite stiff, so it’ll stay stable even on a machine with a vibratory pump. The magnetic surface of the mirror also has a grippy pad that stops it from making any noise or slipping while in use.It has just enough motion that I didn’t really have any issues finding a spot on my drip tray that gives a great angle of the bottomless portafilter on my machine, which is surprising on the cramped Gaggia Classic. It would be far better if there was a second joint and a slightly longer arm to give you a bigger range of motion but it’ll generally be fine for most machines. The mirror has no issues sticking to any magnetic surface and it firmly attaches itself to both the stainless steel body on a Gaggia classic pro and the drip tray insert. If you happen to have a non-magnetic surface, a small metal disc is supplied with some double-sided adhesive on it to make the mirror mountable on almost anything.I do have a few issues, the first one is that the overall finish on the wood leaves a bit to be desired, as there are some rough patches around the mirror edge and on the sides and back. The other issue is that the magnetic ball-joint mount is mounted off-centre on the mirror. It could be intentional to give the mirror a slightly larger range of motion before it hits the machine or drip-tray. At least the mounting arm is entirely out of sight so I can live with it. The same is mostly true of the wooden finish, most of the roughness is on the sides and back, and the part you see on the front is tolerable for the pricing.I am a little concerned with the longevity of the wood in the humid and hot environment but it’s been fine for several weeks so far with the factory finish on it. You could always strip it back and apply an oil or wax to the wood to keep it from deteriorating, but that's yet another thing to maintain and worry about on your machine, which might not appeal to some. Hopefully it holds up but I’d have much preferred a simple & maintenance free plastic frame for the mirror instead of the wood personally speaking. I can easily see the lightly coloured wood getting stained or ruined by the coffee or even just the humid and hot environment under the group head of an espresso machine. The £8.99 price is reasonable even with the mentioned quality concerns, especially when you consider that a lot of the same mirror being sold by others is around a tenner and the fancier name-brand ones can easily get into the £30 range.

The shape started do deform slowly and which eventually lead to mirror fracturing
