I ordered this weedstop matting because I have a gravel path in my garden that has become very weedy and matted. It's a tricky path because it starts very broad - about 2m - and narrows as it progresses to the other end which is just over 1 m wide. This kit includes the matting and some pegs with buffers to stop the matting ripping and hold it down securely. At 2m wide, I decided to lay it croswise on the path so the width of the matting ran lengthways on the path. This made it easier for me to lay with the varying path width.A big problem with this sort of matting is that it frays over time, and you can get long plastic threads working their way loose. To minimise this, I cut it with scissors - it cut easily - and used a kitchen blowtorch to melt the cut edges so that there are no loose threads. Similarly, for each peg, I used the peg to pierce the matting, then used an old soldering iron into the holes to fuse the edges. This takes a bit of extra time, but is worth it to avoid those awful ragged threads working themseves loose. I also checked when laying it that the ground underneath was smooth, and picked out any chippings or flint that could pierce the matting over time. I tucked the edges under the blocks bordering the path so there's no risk of a gap where weeds can find their way to the soil. So it was hard work but not difficult, and hopefully will not need doing again for years. Once the matting was down, I covered it a good 10cm deep in pea-gravel, and it looks great! If you are after plastic weed matting, I'm happy to recommend this.

When cutting the shape you want the material leaves strips of fibres

I recently used this weed control membrane in my garden and found it to be a practical and reliable solution for managing unwanted growth. The material is robust and thick enough to resist tearing, even when laid over stony ground, and it’s easy to cut to the required size with scissors or a craft knife. I appreciated how straightforward it was to handle and install, making it suitable for use under gravel, planters, or seating areas. The membrane is water permeable, so rain and nutrients can still reach the soil while effectively blocking sunlight to suppress weeds. It’s also breathable, which helps maintain healthy soil conditions. The coverage is generous, making it ideal for larger projects or for lining multiple planters. The inclusion of securing pegs is helpful, though I found them a bit small and would recommend using additional or larger pegs for windy spots or heavy-duty use.Overall, this weed control fabric has made a noticeable difference in keeping my garden tidy and low-maintenance. It offers good value for money and is versatile enough for various landscaping needs.

Got the entire roll laid out roughly this afternoon. Its a work in progress and this will help keep the weeds at bay as we work on each part.It made of plastic in a woven strip. No joins. The edges are cut as far as can be told buy not fraying. You can sort of see light in a few places if lifted and looked through where the weave is a little loose but not all over.I think they all do that.Youll need to unroll the entire pack and then open the fold to get the whole width. The staples are thin , you ned to push them in by hand so you can feel for stones. There are plastic plates which you poke the staples through. These are better than the old single circles and single pegs as they hold more of the fabric down so you should get less of a puddle built up round a staple and so better avoid a mud build up at the indentation which is not fun when you want to remove a staple. This isnt the thickest weed suppressant we have used but it works to cover a largeish area quickly beinng 2 meters wide.It did struggle a bit on the crunchy crispy stuff. better over mud and under mulch.I shall lift and relay as I get the ground better cleared but it makes for a stop gap.Conclusion.Useful 2 meter width makes a quick job of coverageQuite thin but I think its enough for temporary covereage while clearing an area. or to load mulch onto.Pegs did a good job of pinning it down and there are plenty for the size of the fabric.could be used double for reachability across veg beds, or cut to size.
