Very sturdy fixings, easily strong enough to hold my small WC basin to the wall and would be fine for much larger. Length was useful for me as they needed to go through insulation first then into the wall, so I didn't have to cut them down. You easily could with hacksaw or grinder though. Just thread a nut on first, cut it, then thread the nut back off - that way any threads damaged by cutting will be straightened out
