I first bought a Viair compressor in 2002 or 3 (I think) Since then I used it extensively off roading in the UK, Europe and 3 or 4 trips a year round the the Sahara and further south until 2014. Since my trips to the desert were curtailed due to the Libyan civil war and general associated security risks, I have used it every couple of weeks to top up my tyres until it finally died a couple of months ago.I honestly couldn't estimate how many hundreds of hours of relentless pumping it did over the years. It worked flawlessly in the heat, sand, dust, mud, driving rain, snow and ice, and it survived living in the back of various 110 Defenders for nearly two decades.Anyway it eventually died and I replaced it with a cheap standard domestic type one from by a known brand which was basically tat. I got 2 months use out of it tending to both my wife's car and mine (which has a slow puncture due to a slightly bent rim). It was slow, insanely loud and broke after maybe 10-15 uses.I treated myself to a new Viair compressor as a replacement. It's more or less the same as the one I had before but a newer model. It's quieter, seems quicker and it's shiny! I expect it to last a similar length of time. If you are considering buying a home compressor - get a Viair. They really are worth the bit extra you pay for a quality product.

Haven't used it yet but seems great.Came with a few scratches/scuffs on the unpainted metal area and some stains on the painted body (stains came off easily). Scratches not very visible on camera... it is a tool so no big deal. Assuming these are assembled by hand and parts left sitting and moved around a lot. Also not sealed in the box it comes in, but everything seems to be there inside the bag I think. All parts except the Presta valve adaptor is designed to be attached to the body of the compressor. If you want to carry this around, I don't think you have a spot to keep this on the compressor itself. Plastic bag and inside the carry case would probably be the quickest solution.Air hose not detachable (at least not without disassembly) as I would have liked, but the many cheaper pumps that have failed me over the years have never failed at the hose connecting to the body of the compressor. The usual coiled metal type clamp is used but not accessible from the outside.Expected the battery clamps to be cheap quality based on reviews online... in my honest opinion, they are not, having experience with much cheaper build quality of clamps over many years that are still intact (these are better than the cheapest ones I have). The protective cover on these clamps, I don't expect to last a very long time, but I'll think of something if that wears out in a few years. The wire I thought would be fragile and although it's not the smallest guage or the most ideal, it is much better than I expected. My major concerns were the fact these don't come with replaceable filters like the more expensive models. The permanent hose. The analog and imperfect readings and no auto stop. The wire durability and clamp quality. The connecter for tires on all the models... that other than the price was why I got this. I could just pop on a quick release with this one.Not digital, doesn't stop automatically like my past pumps? Isn't guaranteeing an accuracy, requiring me to manually check the pressure after filling? I knew this prior to purchase. I think Viair makes a digital version with auto stop if you're interested. Will update on functionality when I use it.Just used it... accuracy is difficult to judge. Analog reading jumps up when filling and even before starting compressor its difficult to judge air pressure (note i am using a aftermarket quick release and one tire was only 1 psi below what i filled it to a very long time ago, one tire on a different vehicle read 20 psi, but that same tire read less than 5 PSI a week ago after canadian tire swapped tires on that vehicle and all the pressures were too low on that vehicle also why i needed a new pump...). Its possible in the compressor off state, and without aftermarket attachments it may be fairly accurate and the warning is more just a removal of liability for user error. Power cord is long enough to hook up and place compressor on ground next to engine bay for a sedan or SUV. Air hose is long enough to go to back tires as expected with the compressor on the floor up front. I did move the compressor when going side to side as it's not very heavy and didn't want it to tip over. Works fine with a quick release adaptor purchased separately.Does warm up quickly, but the intention with this is to use it during seasonal swaps for a few vehicles or whenever tire pressure too low anyways, so sticking to the cool down and run time isn't a major issue, especially if the tires hold pressure well. There's also a light that turns on once it's plugged in.Edits: for 35 psi approximately 40.5 psi while compressor is running seems to be the spot. Compressor off reading is good enough once you know a value to look for. Aftermarket quick release adaptor makes things much easier (careful with the hose and wires if it has sharp edges though). Gets very hot so remember to keep the wires and hose away from the hot area until it cools down.
