I've tried a number of cheap inverters, and all have had problems -- both in functionality and electrical safety. It is possible to buy an inverter of this notional power rating for about £20 but, in fact, there is just no comparison. It really is worth spending the extra money -- unless you need a colossal power rating, in which case the decision becomes a bit more complicated.For a 375 VA inverter, this is a large, heavy unit. Most of the weight seems to be in the transformer, as expected. Inexpensive transformerless designs don't have this additional weight, but the transformer is required in many installations to provide proper electrical safety. You can earth one terminal of the DC supply if you wish, and you can earth one of the mains output terminals to create a true neutral, and you can do both of these things at the same time if the design calls for it. Most cheap transformerless inverters will either blow up, or create a huge electrical safety problem, if you try to create a true neutral. Most permanent installations will require the neutral to be earthed (at exactly one point) to comply with safety regulations.The Victron unit is quiet-running; in fact, with light-ish loads it's silent running, and you might not even know it's operating apart from the LED on the back. Most of the cheap units have permanent, loud, buzzy fans.This unit is not supplied with battery clips or (Heaven forbid) a car cigarette lighter plug. It's designed for permanent, professional installation, not camping. I'm sure it would work fine for camping as well, if you provide your own battery cabling, but a cheap unit would probably be fine for that kind of application (if you don't mind the noisy fan).This is a true sine-wave inverter, so it should be safe to use on appliances with motors (provided they don't exceed the power rating). Most cheap inverters are "modified sine-wave" which means, in practice, a square-wave. Such devices are really only suitable for powering mains appliances that step down to a lower voltage using a transformer. Of course, many appliances are of this type, and will work fine with a cheap inverter; but a true sine-wave inverter will power a greater range of devices properly.375 VA is suitable for most entertainment and domestic computer equipment, some lighting, and some (but not all) power tools. It won't operate most kettles or cooking equipment. Higher-power units are available for those kinds of loads, but they are very expensive.This unit is field-programmable so you can tune various aspects of its operation. I have not had to do this -- the factory defaults work fine for me. It has a remote control switch, so you can leave it permanently connected to the battery supply, and use a separate switch to control it. This, also, I haven't tried.Watt-for-watt, the Victron Phoenix range of inverters cost 5-10 times the price of cheap transformerless units from eBay. However, they are at least 5-10 times better, so it's money well spent.

Der Wechselrichter kommt in gewohnt guter Victron Energy Qualität und ist sehr gut verarbeitet. Er funktioniert tadellos und lässt sich auch sehr einfach in die App einbinden und darüber einstellen / steuern.375 VA Dauerleistung sind theoretisch möglich. In der Praxis ist der Wechselrichter bei Werten knapp unter 375 VA bereits in die automatische Abschaltung gegangen.Beachtet unbedingt die Maße des Wechselrichters. Diese sind nicht zu unterschätzen.Zum Zeitpunkt meiner Bewertung war der falsche Wechselrichter im Angebot abgebildet. (Bild mit 24V Version und nicht die 12V Version).
