It's white and I can write on it so it passes my first test. The second positive is that the markers it comes with are pretty decent . My white board writing skills are nornally akin to a spider climbing out of an ink pot and struggling across a piece of paper. But the markers are round points and not chisel tips which I liked. The eraser is magnetic which is a nice touch and works well. All in all I would purchase this again. One thing that would be nice but perhaps increase the cost would be a magnetic wall mount. It's nice to be to take the board off the wall to write on it and then put it back up. You could use hooks but a magnetic mount that screwed to the wall would be a nice touch and I would pay about $10 more for it.
