As another reviewer has mentioned, the entire shaft of this tester is uninsulated, meaning that it can be a bit tricky to use precisely as the entire shaft can come into contact with something so it's not brilliantly suited to probing around in awkward spaces in an engine bay. I think I'll be getting some heat-shrink on the majority of it to leave just the tip exposed to make it more 'directed'.

The probe on this tester is not insulated so there is the risk that when you touch a live terminal with the tip there is a chance the rest of the length of the probe can touch a grounded point on the car body and cause a short. I am going to have to put some plastic tubing over the majority of the length of the probe. The probe body is a plastic cylinder with a bulb in it with its tip contact held against the end of the probe and a large spring on the glass end of the bulb to provide contact to the probe earth lead.I was a little disappointed that the package I received had been sellotaped back together and there were marks on the probe body where it had been previously used.
