BackgroundI've been searching for the perfect tool bag for my apprentice electrician setup for quite some time. I explored all the major brands—Knipex, Milwaukee, Veto, Stanley, CK Magma, Festool, and many others—but found that most were either too large, too heavy, overly expensive, or poorly designed for efficient organization. I needed a bag that could hold all the essential hand tools for sockets, switches, panels, cabling, and crimping work, without being cumbersome or overloaded with unnecessary pockets.Late one night, I stumbled upon this bag on Amazon. I had no idea that Wago even made tool bags, nor was I familiar with the L-Boxx system before this. I took a chance and ordered it immediately, and I couldn't be happier with my decision. After organizing my tools, I was pleased to find ample space for essentials like pliers, screwdrivers, cutters, crimpers, strippers, measuring and marking tools, a few wrenches, shrink tubing, a small blow torch, gloves, a headlamp, electrical tape, and a multimeter/clamp meter/fork meter/voltage tester. Surprisingly, even with all of that, there's still room for a 12V Milwaukee screwdriver or impact wrench, a full set of impact bits, a couple of spare batteries, and more.Areas for ImprovementWhile this bag meets most of my needs, there are a few aspects that could be refined in future iterations:- Side Pockets: The zippered side pocket should be slightly larger to accommodate standard clamp meters or fork meters. While compact models from Benning or UNI-T fit well, a Fluke won't fit at all.- Bottom Tray Durability: The L-Boxx Mini plastic tray feels a bit thin given how heavy the bag can get when fully loaded. I wouldn't feel comfortable dropping it on the ground. I’ve ordered an additional tray for more storage and added protection.- Elastic Loops: The internal elastic loops are uniform in size and on the large side. Smaller loops would be ideal for securing items like Wiha Slimline Bits, eliminating the need to carry an extra pouch and freeing up space. I haven’t tested Wera’s system, but it may work better in this regard.- Bag Interior: The bottom of the bag lacks a lining, causing loose items to rattle. Adding a rubber mat with double-sided tape would solve this issue.- Bag Base: There are no feet or grips on the bottom, meaning it sits directly on surfaces. While I understand this design is for L-Boxx compatibility, an optional sturdy bottom attachment for standalone use would be beneficial.Final ThoughtsDespite these minor drawbacks, I highly recommend this bag for quick service calls, light work, DIY projects, or apprenticeships. Most of its shortcomings can be addressed with simple modifications, and even without additional customization, it’s an excellent tool bag. Adding rubber feet, for example, is an easy fix for the base.Overall, this bag has exceeded my expectations, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to professionals and apprentices alike. I am actually considering getting another one for my 12V Milwaukee cordless tools.
