Absolutely adore these product and the company itself. I own the Regular, the Passport, and one of their leather pen holders, and I will be a lifetime user of their products. The customer service is personal and really does work with you to resolve issues, and I've carried these notebooks with me nearly everyday and they look and feel amazing. The Wanderings inserts hold up quite nicely to fountain pen inks, which is great ofc, and the whole set just looks so nice! I've had the Regular size for almost 3 years now, and it's developed the most wonderful patina from its travels. I use my Passport as habit tracker, exercise journal, and scratch notebook, and my Regular is my travel journal, etc. All in all, this chaotic review highly recommends this company, especially compared to some more expensive options!!

I'm a big fan of this notebook. I've actually purchased it in three different sizes. They're very well made and the options for lined, blank, etc. make it more appealing.

EDIT: 17th Dec 2020.(I have added this edit at the top for anyone who wants a quick intro and doesn't want to read my full Wanderings v Mdori comparison):My work notebook is the one I use most often - every day and weekends too,. I purchased that one is September 2020.It was beautiful when it first arrived three months ago but now, it's beaten, battered bruised, scratched and simply stunningly beautiful! I do admit, I added some scratches my self - on purpose! *grins*I also use it as a wallet sometimes and it goes with me shopping and to the coffee shop and and it gets so many questions and compliments - people think it's an aged, ancient item.If you prefer your leather pristine, this is possibly not for you, Though, a good leather conditioner would help keep this looking newer rather than older. Me? I prefer the 'older look'It has crossed my mind to condition my Wanderings notebook - but I just don't want to spoil how used and loved it looks right now and unlike Midoris I have owned previously which got dry and actually cracked though use, the Wanderings doesn't need conditioning - not yet anyhow, the leather is soft, gorgeous to touch and still smells wonderful. My Initial review follows:I’m comparing two Travelers Factory (previously named Midori) traveler’s notebooks (one dark brown, one camel – both passport size) to this product, the Wanderings pocket size and this is an honest comparison. If you only want to read about this item then check the Wanderings section of each element I have reviewed.Length of time I've had each:Midori dark brown passport: – owned since February 2020 – bought as a work planner – shoved in the bin September 2020 – the leather showed to be terrible quality within a week of it arriving.Midori camel passport: – owned since April 2020 – bought to replace the dark brown as a work plannerWanderings Pocket: – owned 5 days August 2020 - bought to replace the dark brown which I had begun using again but as a personal journal this time.Zipper Pouch, Kraft folder and Jump/Connector Bands:I can’t do a comparison for these as I only have the Midori version just now, however, in one of my journals I am using a standard elastic band as a jump band which is doing fine for now but the are cheap elastic bands and do snap (note to self – sort this out or your journal will fall apart woman!!)Size:Midori Passport:Is smaller than a Wanderings pocket notebook by about half an inch width wise across the whole cover (so quarter of an inch wider each side front and back when closed) – no difference in length.Notebook inserts stick out if you put three notebook inserts in them and have the zipper pouch and kraft folder in there. This didn't seem a problem to me at first but it's worn on me.I need three notebooks for my daily planner but the Midori really only fits two books well. With three notebooks in there the spines of the outer notebook get bent up and they move about when opening and closing the journal. You do need to pull a little on each outer notebook insert when you close it to pull them back straight again or they will sit uneven and get more bent at the spine and also the outer edges of the inserts covers.Wanderings Pocket:Very comfortably holds three notebooks plus the zipper pouch and kraft folder. I haven’t tried any more notebooks yet but I think it would happily take one more. There is no overhang, the cover covers it all perfectly well. There is no fiddling required, you don’t need to pull the outer notebooks back into place or wiggle them around. There is a very slight bend to the spines on only one of the outer notebooks but it’s incredibly minimal and this notebook has very fine paper compared to the others I have in there.Overall, everything just stays in place much better. I actually can’t figure out why this is so different to the Midori but it is and makes a lot of difference when you use the journal a lot, as I do.Leather Colour:Midori Passport-I have both the dark brown and the camel Midori. The dark brown is very dark but alright, not my favourite shade of brown,The camel is a much lighter tan brown type colour and I’m not that keen on tan coloured leather but it’s also alright.Wanderings Pocket:-There's one colour in the pocket version and it's right in the middle between the two colours mentioned above - a medium brown. Of all three this is my favourite shade of brown.Leather Quality:Before I go any further – I am fully aware that the leather these products are made from scratch up and change over time – it was one of the reasons I wanted one.Midori Passport:The dark brown looked and felt great out of the packaging but within a week it had turned very dry with visible cracks and this has been a problem ever since.I have used Renapur Leather Balsam sparingly on it (as per the instructions) but the leather sucks it up very quickly. It does restore it for a day or two but swiftly returns to it’s standard dry and cracked state. It looks lifeless and dull. Dirty even.. There is no shine to it, no beautiful patina to it.I have seen a couple of these on Youtube which look somewhat similar to mine in texture but not many so I don’t think it’s a one off bad leather but it could be more common that the dark brown is not great quality. The camel leather is more like suede and hasn’t required any conditioning yet, I’ve had that one for a few months now.It is so like suede that I try as much as I can not to even touch it. I’m too worried I may wreck it.Being more like suede, I don’t think the leather would like Renapur much.Neither Midori lies flat when opened, you have to bend it back for it to open out each time you use it but it will stay flat once you’ve bent it back on itself.Wanderings Pocket:- This is very different to both of my Midoris, it’s lovely leather, very smooth and soft, it even smells way better. The leather is a tiny bit thinner than the Midori which isn’t an issue at all. This doesn’t need any conditioning so far and is not at all dry. When you open it, the cover falls flat itself nicely. There is no need to bend it back on itself. This is very touchable/usable and I’m not worried I will wreck it – it’s a different little beast – it fights back – but still incurs a lovely scratch or a few - I love that! There is ‘life’ in this leather but also it arrives imperfect – I loved that too. This does not need to be babied – do what you need to with it and it will look great.Elastic Closure:Midori Passport:The elastic centres from the mid back of the cover and is knotted. This can be difficult for writing when you don't have something in between a notebook and the knot. It is OK if you have a plastic pouch/card holder and a kraft folder between the knot and the notebook. You can get different coloured elastics for the Midori and you get one of a different colour with your purchase, plus one other which is part of the packaging.I have already needed to switch out to new elastics for the closures on both of my Midoris, twice on the dark brown, once on the camel. They tend to lose their elasticity quite quickly. The Midori has no outer leather protective strip on the elastic closure.Charms can be added to this closure.Wanderings Pocket:The elastic comes from the spine and it has very slim metal ends (these are not visible in the photos above and should not be confused with the metal ends of the notebook elastic and jump/connector bands for linking notebooks – which you can see in the photos) to tidy the knot so there is no issues with writing on a knot if you only have notebooks in there. There are no options for different coloured elastic. This would be a nice touch if you could get a spare or a set in another colour but it may not look as good with a different colour running through the leather strip at the side to be honest. I’m not hankering for a different colour elastic. The leather protector strip, I thought, may make this feel chunky compared to the Midori but it doesn’t, it makes the journal easier to open too.I use a skeleton bulldog clip on the side of a kraft folder to store my pen and the strip helps to keep that in place better. Also, because the notebooks don’t overhang the cover the pen doesn’t squash my pages or stick out (which it does on both counts with the Midori)Wanderings sell a replacement elastic closure should you need one, the code is B083JYPFWS for that but the elastic is sturdier so I doubt I will need to replace it as much as I have on my Midoris.Charms can be added to this closure.Notebook Inserts - Ruled:Midori Passport: These are nice. The outer card comes in different colours for the different paper types. The ruled ones are navy blue. These are very expensive as are all Midori refills.Wanderings Pocket: These are not quite as nice as the Midori brand, the outer cover is made from a slightly harder card and they all come in the same colour which is kraft paper coloured. The ruling spacing is slightly bigger on these compared to the Midori. I think the paper is a little thinner than the Midori ones. They will fit happily in either journal though.I’m using the Wanderings ruled for my personal journal at the moment. For my work planner I’m using up the Midori stock plus the Wanderings stock I have just now and will then try out the dot grid WWanderings for m planner in a few months.Customer Service:Midori Passport:ZeroWanderings Pocket:Excellent! Scott will sometimes follow up with an email to make sure your order arrived. He will answer a question – it feels like a personal service. It’s a nice touch.Thank you Scott.Overall View:The Wanderings Pocket size has won me over.I have had this 5 days but it’s the better product by far for all the reasons above.I love it – and now it’s my new work planner.I still have the camel Midori – which is OK – but I want to find some charms so that I can get another Wanderings and with a charm I can then identify between the two so I don’t take the wrong one into work.I won’t be buying a Midori/Traveler’s Factory again.EDITED TO ADD:I recently ordered another of these to use as my personal journal, very happy with it.Have realised the reason why you have to jiggle things around in a Midori is that the elastic is not as good as in these. My original purchase is wearing really well and it's just more durable feeling than a Midori/Travaler's Factory. Notebook. I have no doubt this will behave the same way.EDIT: 17th Dec 2020.My work notebook is the one I use most often - every day and weekends too,.It was beautiful when it first arrived three months ago but now, it's beaten, battered bruised, scratched and simply stunningly beautiful!I also use it as a wallet sometimes and it goes with me shopping and to the coffee shop and and it gets so many questions and compliments - people think it's an aged, ancient item.If you prefer your leather pristine, this is possibly not for you, Though, Renapur Leather Conditioner would bring it back to newer looking again (Renapur is a great conditioner for this type of leather). It has crossed my mind to condition mine - but I don't want to spoil how used and loved it looks right now and unlike Midoris I have owned previously which got dry though use, the Wanderings doesn't need conditioning - not yet anyhow.
