I've recently started tinkering with micro electronics and although I have removed things like tiny capacitors etc, it has resulted in heat transfer to other parts of the board and parts moving that shouldn't. I've heard of sublimation tape, but I've never used it so I thought I'd give this a try.First of all, you get loads of this tape, enough to last an amateur like me years. Its really easy to use, just stick it where you wan to protect and that's it. I found that I was a little overkeen with the heat gun, so I covered the whole areas to be protected in the tape, just to be sure.After removing the components I needed to replace with a reasonable heat, I removed the tape and the board looked untouched and none of the components had moved. As described, there was no real residue, perhaps a bit of adhesive from the tape but nothing major and likely due to my application of too much heat?Overall its hard to fault this tape so far, its performed as described, and priced at £4.69 for the 2x rolls at the time of ordering it wont break the bank and deserves to be in any budding micro electronic dabblers tool kit.

Works good for sublimation and I was able to use this to hold a connector in place.

The tape is pretty good quality and does what you want it to do. I used some to hold components in place when I was soldering and am pretty happy with it tape. With a combined length of 66m there is a fair amount provided. Overall, does what you expect it to do.

This polyimide tape works okay, it kept a GPS IC where I needed it while I fumbled around trying to solder it on the PCB. I screwed it up bad but that wasn't the tape's fault. Comes away clean with no residue. Moderate holding strength. I'm sure its insulation properties are typical of polymide tapes but I haven't used it for that. I got a laugh out of the 'Koptan' branding.
