The room in the loft was getting far too hot in the heat wave. This was mostly caused by the sun shining constantly on the velux blackout blinds, causing them to act like a huge radiator. These awning blinds fit on the outside of the window and act as an external blocker of some of the sunlight (76% claimed) before it even hits the window. This then reduces the amount of heat which passed through.Provided in the box is everything you need for installation, except a multi-bit screwdriver and a philips head screwdriver. So you get:-- Instructions- Roller blinds- 2x Torx screws- 2x black putty- 2x A, B, C and D clips- 2x holding hooks for the end of the roller blind- 1x Torx screw multi-bit adaptor (to go into a multi-bit screwdriver)It would seem Velux had already planned ahead to have these accessories easily installable, since the window already had screw holes in the right places etc.I was fitting a GGL MK04 Velux window and my procedure was:-1. Place the D clips onto the blind2. Pull out the (now redundant) black plastic cover off the Velux window frame3. Put the roller blind up in the recess left by the removed plastic cover in the Velux frame, and screw the torx screws into the pre-drilled holes4. Now unscrew and take out the philips screw at the far end left side of velux window. Place black putty into the hole.5. Using the screw you've taken out, screw in one of the holding hooks, making sure it goes through the black putty (water seal I guess)6. Repeat steps 4-5 on the right side.7. Attached the blind over the hooks and you're done.Installation time, around 30 minutes. The construction of this awning is pretty exceptional. It feels well made, using what seem like high quality materials. The fabric for the blind should holdup to the weather.A quick test with my other Velux (just a few feet apart with identical elevation and orientation) which hasn't got the awning, feels much hotter than the one with, so definitely effective. It survived a rain shower later on without any issues either, if anything, it seems to reduce the rain noise a little bit - but nothing significant. In terms on windy weather, it looks like it should survive it fine, however I'd rather not test that part of it unnecessarily. At £26 at time of review, it is significantly cheaper than the equivalent main branded awning blind. I'm sufficiently impressed by this one that I have now ordered another on for the other Velux window. Highly recommended.
