This was a handy little device for anyone in DIY space specifically raspberry pies, and programming of little logic boards. This has decent build quality the board in the picture actually looks much smaller in reality is the same size as the display which is fine. The display is clear and crisp. You’re not gonna play games on it but it’s sufficient for using as an interface. Will be using it to integrate with some home automation projects I have. I’m working on.

The Waveshare ESP32-S3-LCD-5B is one of the best ESP32 development boards I’ve used. The 5-inch 1024x600 RGB LCD is sharp and responsive, perfect for GUI work with LVGL. Built-in USB, TF card slot, speaker, and mic make it an all-in-one solution for advanced IoT or HMI projects. The ESP32-S3 chip provides excellent performance for both UI rendering and wireless communication (WiFi + BLE).Only downside is that the RGB LCD setup takes a bit more effort than SPI displays, and you’ll need to be comfortable with ESP-IDF or PlatformIO, especially when configuring esp_lcd_rgb_panel_config_t and initializing touch. But once set up, it runs beautifully. Great board for anyone looking to build a modern embedded display or smart interface

Would have wished the resolution was a bit higher but I think it would cause compatibility issues with different devices if it was the case, otherwise its a good display for esp32 or Pi. Have yet to test it though.

I bought two of these, I can not detect them on either my windows machine or my RPi 5. I see the potential in it, but if they can not be detected, I cannot flash them. Build quality seems great, the loaded demo shows potential, but I would like to implement my project!

I'm quite impressed with how much stuff is packed onto this board. For most of my (very simple) ESP32 projects I need a display, some sort of user input, a few outputs for relays, and a way to log data onto an SD card. This board basically includes all of that AND a real time clock (which I haven't tried yet) in one package. If you can live with the reduced set of I/O options, this is a much more organized (and likely less expensive) approach than hooking up the same components on protoboards for every project.
