I've tried all kinds of wood in my offset smoker (Taino Yuma XXL, which is a great smoker btw) but I finally settled on using Hickory for most kinds of meat. It gives off a pretty strong and somewhat sharp taste, which to me is how smoked meats should taste. I use simple charcoal brikettes for keeping the fire going and temperature steady, and add Hickory chunks for the taste. I use about one whole bag of Hickory for a 4 to 5 hour hot smoking session. Weber chunks aren't cheap. But I dont smoke very often, and when I do, I want it to be great. The chunks are clean, nicely sized, well dried and overall just a good product. If you burn through a lot, I recommend finding a cheaper source, but for the occasional backyard session, these will do just fine.

Weber have a good reputation for consistent quality and this product doesn't deviate. These were nice, large chunks so they smoked well. The smell/taste was strong, but not overpowering. I've only used these with beef (short ribs, steak, brisket) and it imparts an almost bacon-like taste. These were £10 a bag when I got them, which I'd say was good value for money. There were a lot of chunks in the bag and I only use maybe three chunks per cook, so it's lasted a while.

..circa un'ora avendo l'accortezza di tenerli a mollo in acqua prima (almeno un'ora direi).Io li uso per il pollo, per il Brisket, ecc. per me vanno meglio dei pezzettini piccoli perchè usando quelli occorre rabboccare spesso dato che bruciano e si consumano in fretta, mentre questi basta appoggiarne uno a lato delle braci per avere circa un'ora di fumo denso e prfumato.Il gusto è deciso, per che volesse menoo impatto consiglio il legno di melo.
