"What the Cup" took a few rounds to get the hang of, but once we all understood the rtules we had a great time playing it. The game starts with everyone getting some chips and a cup/die set. Each player puts a chip in the middle and rolls their die, hiding it from the other players in the cup. On a player's turn, they draw a card and can choose to play the card by doing things like swapping dice with a player, peeking at a player's die, or sending all cups a space or two to the right. The player can also choose to flip the high/low card in the middle of the table to change the winning card value. If a game over card is drawn, the game ends immediately. Your goal as a player is to try to have the highest or lowest card when the game over card is drawn. At the end of a round the winner gets all of the chips in the middle, and the group continues playing rounds until someone runs out of chips. The game moves at a quick pace once you understand what to do, and it's pretty fun to strategize while trying to analyze your fellow players' actions. Half of the time my strategies were foiled by the game over card coming up more quickly than I expected- oops! With three players we started off with ten chips each, which could make a full game go on for quite some time unless someone is consistently losing. For a shorter game, it might be a good idea to start with less chips, or to have players have to ante if they want to flip the high/low card.Overall, this game was fun for my wife, myself, and my 12 year old daughter. My daughter is at that age where she thinks family game night is something we invented to torture her, especially when there is a new game, but she ended up enjoying this game quite a bit. I think it would be even more fun with a lot of players, so I can't wait to try it out at our next group game night! I might even try swapping out the chips for dollar coins next time to make it really interesting!

I tried this game with my game group, because we tend to like party games... and it looked like something different. We played several rounds, but it got old pretty quickly. I think it might be better with kids or for families, but for adult groups, it's just not that fun. It was all well packaged, nice looking game, all the accessories were nice, etc.. just didn't have that much fun playing it.
