This is a fantastic tool to inspect materials.I found it relatively easy to use. Make sure to select the right velocity based on the material you are measuring otherwise you will get wrong results.It comes with a sample size ultrasonic gel, good for several measurements but you will definitely run out fast if you use this professionally, so don't forget to get more gel.The batteries are AAA Ni-Mh which is a bit obsolete - as such I am removing one star. They should have used a 18650 Lithium battery instead. These Ni-Mh have a tendency to leak when not used frequently.But besides this shortcoming it works just like it should! Perfect for basic inspection of tubes, welded assemblies etc. Especially when you want to check that suppliers are delivering what they should...Screen is bright and readable and measurements are fast and preciseA great addition to my toolbox for sure.

So, I actually pick this up to try and use to locate wood studs versus metal studs or conduit inside my walls. Fast answer is that it didn't work! But I was able to run some test on nonporous materials and the gauge worked fine. The instructions aren't super helpful, but you can get by with them and maybe an online video or two. The device is built well and is easy to operate once you figure it out. All-in-all, I would say that this is a quality item for use on non-porous materials at a reasonable price. I wis the instructions were better, and the description was more definitive, but I do think it has value for the right use case.
