The holes in the cover plate are not drilled all the way through; they are pre-drilled and tapped to fit the provided mounting screws. Check your camera mount to make sure it matches one of the 7 screw patterns (it should fit a wide variety of camera brands). The junction box provides just enough room to tuck all the cables inside for a clean, professional looking installation. Will definitely purchase again.
