First of all, I should state that both my apartment and my desk at work are covered with these little wooden puzzles that I've made over the past three years. The first was a gift from my daughter, who bought me something to keep me busy while I was home on disability from a surgery. After that one, I was hooked.I assume these kits are the result of a new technology in laser cutting. However, my experience has been that the quality isn't there for all the manufacturers: some of these puzzles aren't very impressive. I've gotten best results with the models from Rokr and Wooden.City, after trying just about all of them.At home, I've got a train that you can wind up and send flying across the floor, a bizarre looking clock that keeps fairly good time, a movie camera that lets you watch Charlie Chaplin dancing, an odd airship, a hurdy-gurdy, and several other oddities, all of which I made myself. These little models are fun!This Christmas I used a gift card to purchase this windmill model. In my experience, Wooden.City makes the best models. The wood sheets are usually of better quality than some manufacturers, for example; some of the puzzles I've done have had knots in the wood that messed up some of the parts, but I haven't had that problem with Wooden.City. So far, this project has been very smooth; the instructions are (mostly) clear, although I've noticed a couple of mis-labeled parts in the instructions. But if you've got a good eye, you can work around those typos.If anything helps, it's patience. I spend at least a month on each puzzle (unless it's a very little one) and carefully sand each piece, and when the instructions suggest waxing a part, I let the wax warm up a bit and smear it all over the part -- it really helps gears mesh smoothly. But patience is the key, and sometimes it's a good idea to put it aside for a day or two and think about it before proceeding.The results are well worth the effort, not to mention the self-satisfaction you get from these cool little toys. Die Beschreibung ist rein grafisch und extrem kompakt, ein paar klärende Worte wären oft sehr hilfreich. Ein paar Teilenummern sind falsch angegeben 67/68. Der Zusammebau der Teile häufig sehr schwergängig. Auch da könnten entsprechende Hinweise den Kunden versichern, dass es da korrekt ist, brachiale Gewalt anzuwenden, insbesondere bei den unzähligen Klemmstiften. Für all das wird umfangreiches Werkzeug benötigt, ganz anders als die Anpreisung des Bausatzes erwarten lässt. Ein Schelm, der Böses dabei denkt. Auf der anderen Seite gibt es dann eine Menge Kleinzeug, das dann plötzlich wieder Fingerspitzengefühl erfordert, wie z.B. der Umgang mit den Fäden. bevor man sich hier die Finger verbiegt, muss man erst mal ergründet haben, was es bedeutet, wenn ein Faden plötzlich dicker dargestellt wird. Ganz einfach, wenn man dann erraten hat, dass damit zwei Fäden gemeint sind. Und das Ganze soll in 72 Std. zu machen sein? Und dann gibt es da noch die Sollbruch-Teile, die einen erfolgreichen Zusammenbau nachhaltig sabotieren, weil sie so filigran sind, dass sie die Spannung beim Eintreiben der Klemmstifte einfach auseinander platzen (34). Woher ich Ersatzteile bekommen könnte weiß ich auch nicht, würde aber auch nichts helfen, weil neue 34er-Teile wieder genauso platzen würden.Wenn ich jetzt, nach dem ersten Viertel, nachdem ich das Teil in die Ecke geworfen habe, hochrechne, komme ich eher auf die dreifache Zeit und dafür ist mein Weihnachtsurlaub zu kurz und meine Nerven zu schwach. Wenn überhaupt, kann ich diesen Bausatz nur einem kräftigen Grobmotoriker mit Hebammenhänden und einem gut bestückten Werkzeugkasten empfehlen. Eine Klinikpackung Valium wäre auch nicht schlecht!
