The umbrella holder will only work with standard small diameter tripods which means if you have your own and it's thicker because you need the height, you're out of luck. I contacted xbotgo but they do not offer an alternative or adaptor for a solution, but they did ask for my setup details to better improve their future accessories.

This works great as a sun shade and while I haven’t used it in rain, I’m sure it will keep most of the direct rain off if attached at the right height.
