Not enough clearance under neath, as they clamp on to the bars rather than using the Tbar. I have Yakima Whispbars and the bottom of the bracket has about 2mm clearance to the glass roof of my car. going over bumps, it will tap the windows. Bit of a disaster really, and definitely not clear from the Yakima website that forkchops dont fit whispbars (or probably any aerobars.

If you are looking at this particular Yakima bike rack in 2023 - it has been discontinued in the USA for some time - then you are like me: needing an extremely compact and stow-able rooftop bike rack without compromising on safety and security of bike attachment.Addressing the primary need that led me to the ForkChop, all other Yakima car roof bike racks, whether fork mount or front wheel mount, are not nearly so compact. They all are built around a lengthy metal bar. This makes them heavier and unwieldy. If you don't want your bike rack permamently mounted on your crossbars all the time, then the ForkChop may work well for you. Unlike the other Yakima rooftop bike racks, which are too large for storage in my vehicle, I can easily detach the two little blocks that comprise the Forkchop and stow them anywhere inside my car. The ForkChop was extremely easy to install onto my Toyota factory crossbars, with its design seemingly permitting universal compatibility. But the ForkChop's ease of mounting, dismounting, and storage goes hand in hand with what other reviewers here have decried as a lack of security from theft. While I added two Yakima SKS lock cylinders to the ForkChop (one in each block), an additional purchase, I cannot deny the trade-off: other racks seem more secure from theft, even though I imagine not having the front wheel also readily available on the roof (after all this is a fork mount) would deter some potential thieves.Despite this bike rack's small size, it is quite safe to use. I was amazed at how solidly it performed, tightly gripping my bicycle with no issues at all while driving at speed on the California freeway. It does what a car bike rack should do well: securely attach the bike to the car, raising no concern or cause for anxiety. It performs as well as its larger cousins.I can only speculate on why Yakima discontinued this model. At only 3.5 lbs. it is certainly among the lightest and most compact of rooftop bike racks. Yakima's traditional rooftop fork mount rack - the ForkLift - is 7 lbs. If you want a lightweight and secure bike rack to attach to your vehicle's crossbars, the ForkChop may work for you. I couldn't find anything else on the market that fulfilled my specific needs so completely. Unfortunately, as far as I can tell as of spring of 2023, it is a discontinued model but I hope Yakima revives the concept someday.

I thought this would look slick on my car. I liked that it did not have a tray running the length of the car. In reality, this thing is bulky as heck. Probably to overcome the fact that it doesn't have a tray running the length of the car. It works, it is not as nice as I had previously hoped.

They work amazing on both my full suspension and hard tail bikes. Stable even at 90mph (on track for funziez). No problem off-road or on bumpy roads.
