Perfect quality and sound.

Not excited because it was manufactured in China. I went on the Yamaha website, downloaded the firmware in preparation, and when the unit arrived (carefully following the instructions) I saw it required the firmware update. Reading for comprehension, I unzipped the firmware, downloaded the file to the root of a thumb drive formatted to fat 32, and read the directions step-by-step. After installation the unit verified firmware 1.64 was installed. Not difficult but rushing through the instructions could lead to errors. Now this player is working and sounding fantastic. It is a perfect match to a Yamaha amplifier I just bought. Although I've only played disks i don't foresee issues with music on thumb drives. Very satisfied with purchase.

So I had the same problem people was writing about in reviews. The CD player came and after plugging everything, it worked good for few hours, then disc started skipping. After tuning off and on it would work good for few minutes and then start to skip again. I checked few disc's (brand new) but they all were skipping after a while. I actually started the return thing on Amazon and I was ready to send it back and get a refund. Then I remembered someone mentioned in a review, quote, 'good luck updating it, blah blah....'. I found the update on the internet in 2 minutes. I followed all the instructions, downloaed it and put it on the USB stick then started installation. Updating took 3 minutes. So I spent 10 minutes on it...more or less. The player sounds good now and does not skip anymore! It's been few days after I updated it and I ran it pretty much 24/7, just to be sure. So I canceled the return today and I'm pretty sure it's gonna be working. Sounds great.
