I have several of these little yamazaki trays in different sizes and shapes and colors. I can't seem to get enough of them, as I use them for everything in my office, around my home, in bathroom, in my desk drawers, etc. They are so useful and well made. They are indescructible due to being heavy steel. The black coating is a powder coat with a slight texture to help objects placed in the tray to not slide as easily. It is not a rubbery sort of coating, not at all (I wouldn't like that), but is just the paint itself, as if it has some fine sand thrown into the paint. It works well!
