I bought two different 'ice diamond' moulds to make novely drink coolants for my parents' diamond wedding. Both were a big hit. This one makes very big diamonds which are quite impressive and the system is pretty clever - the mould divides in half when you want to get the ice out so that both sides get jewelled facets. However, that does make the moulds a bit fiddly to use as getting the top on and topping up water through the small holes is not that easy. Probably they should make the filler holes on the upper section that much bigger to make the filling more trouble free but not bad as is and made an impressive set of apricot-sized ice diamonds - just could be easier.

This ice-cube shaper looked interesting, but there are difficulties when it comes to actually using it. You'd think it was simple, but 1) how do you fill the complete compartments, and 2) how do you get it apart when you want a cube? The solution to 2) simply requiires 'BFI' - "Brute force and Ignorance" - to pull the two halves of the moulds apart, but the solution to 1) is a bit more complicated: to fill the upper half of the mould you have to submerge it in cold water, but this then fills the external part of the upper mould, and it's almost impossible to empty this without also emptying water from the moulds. The ice cubes are great - quite novel (for me) to only have one bobbing about in the G&T - it's just getting to that point. I need a drink! :-)

This is easy to fill, but has a tendency to leak. In addition, as the water freezer it expands (as water does) and this distorts the overall shape of the ice cube, which tends not to look like a gem when removed from the mold. The cubes frequently broke into several pieces during the process of removing from the mold.
