I’m showing my age here but the last time I used a yoyo was back in the 1980’s/1990’s when a well-known cola brand did some special editions for their range of soft drinks which everyone at my school had suddenly. I got really into it back then, but after the craze died I never looked at a yoyo again.Spin on, literally, to when this Yostar unresponsive yoyo arrived for me to test. I’m not sure what I was expecting but it wasn’t this. This is a complete kit for someone to get started in the world of yoyoing, receiving the yoyo itself, a glove, a storage bag and many different colours of strings for you to personalise your yoyo with. You also get an instruction book which, if I’m honest, was a little confusing when it came to explaining how to tie the various knots you need to know.I did struggle for a while getting those knots correct, and I’m still not entirely sure I did it right, but I was able to eventually get on with experimenting with the yoyo. And that was where my learning curve really began. This is an unresponsive yoyo, meaning that when you send the yoyo down it won’t come back up again without significant intervention from you. It’s not a simple flick of the wrist as it was for me in the playground 30 years ago, but you need to instigate a trick of some kind. So, you may look like a bit of a fool the first time you use this unless you’re coming armed with an arsenal of tricks. There’s plenty here to keep you interested. The desire to learn new tricks is strong and mastery of the yoyo will take time. If you’re a real novice then you may consider starting out with a responsive yoyo before graduating to this non-responsive type, but otherwise this is a really fun purchase.

I received this product through the Amazon Vine programme and this review is based on my girlfriend's opinions.I got this yoyo for my 7 year old nephew to try and he is enjoying trying to master the art of yoyo. This is a very nicely made yoyo that seems like it should last a while. The set comes with extra strings, a glove and nice soft storage cup. I didn't really appreciate the difference in an unresponsive yoyo so I think mum will have to help with this one, especially as it is quite heavy. There are plenty of online resources to learn how to use this model of yoyo so hopefully my nephew will keep at it and master some of these tricks. While there is a 10% off voucher this is making this just over £17 this is very much a yoyo for more experienced players but the finish and quality seems top notch

Well, let me say - very little.I’ve never had an unresponsive yoyo before. I have a whippet that could be called that.To be honest, I’ve not yet mastered this yoyo. Originally I was getting annoyed that it just spun at the bottom of the string. Then I read the description on the page again and realised I’d ordered an unresponsive one.So, more practice needed to perfect the tricks (by perfect I’ll settle with clumsily achieve) and then maybe I’ll love it more. However, I’m a determined person and I will at some crack it. And then I’ll probably put it in the cupboard never to be seen again after just one successful return. As far as the quality of the product that you receive, I can’t really fault it. In the box you get a lovely little travel case, a single black glove and selection of strings, and then possibly the unclearest instruction booklet I’ve read for a while. The yoyo, being metal is solid, and just like it’s resin and plastic brothers and sisters, it hurts when it hits you, and causes a small amount of damage to anything you might happen to knock off the side whilst throwing it around. But it is solid. The string is a good strength too, so it does all feel very secure when you’re using it..I don’t know if £20 is expensive or not for a decent yoyo. I got mine on Vine for free to write a review, and I’m not sure I’d have bought at for £20 especially as it was on a whim. However, had it been a responsive yoyo I may well have done.
