If you do any sort of art with dry media like pencil, charcoal or pastel, then you will at some point have owned or purchased blending stumps or cotton buds. These blending sponges are more of a deluxe alternative to those. You receive two identical boxes containing the same three sizes of blender, so you get 6 in total.I was immediately impressed with the build quality of the blenders. They have sturdy, paintbrush-style plastic handles with a metal ferrule. The sponge ends are are shaped to allow a few different blending effects. The sponge is quite dense, but soft, very much like make-up blending sponges. In fact, you could use these for make-up application if you wanted. They work really well with graphite, charcoal and chalk/pastel, but as they're soft, they don't work too well for more waxy media like coloured pencil.I haven't yet tried it, but I suspect they can be washed out and left to dry if you're using them with coloured pastel.I'm not entirely convinced that these are an essential addition to your artist's kit. They do work nicely and are well made, but they're not really doing anything a blending stump, cotton bud, make up sponge or your finger couldn't do. One to file under "extravagant purchase", I think.

A waist of money!2 of the blenders were broken and flattened.

I ordered these for my wife as she enjoys colouring, and needed something to help blend and soften edges. This is a pack of 2 boxes each holding 3 blending sponges, there are 2 each of the different sized sponge ends. The handles are similar to a make up brushes handle, and she has found them comfortable to use, however they don't seem to work too well on coloured pencils, more for sketch and charcoal use really. At £15.99 at the time of writing this review, these are really good for people who use charcoal and graphite pencils.
