Recently I helped a relative fix their medical alert necklace, in this case an alert that they had a pacemaker. I thought the necklace was a good idea for myself since I work in a home improvement store and take blood thinners. The company always drives the safety message so I as a precaution I purchased this alert necklace.The medallion has a bright red and white “Rod of Asclepius” (the Greek god of healing) symbol on the front and “blood thinner” inscribed on the back. The medallion is made of stainless steel and has a very nice weight.On the other hand, the necklace chain is very light weight (about an 1/8th of the medallion’s weight) and feels like it could break at any moment. It is only about 19.5 inches long so it sits very high on the chest. Due to the shortness it felt closer to a choker than a necklace.For $9 it’s not a bad deal. My suggestion is get the alert medallion that appropriate for you and get a different necklace to use. A quick side note, the item comes with a small velvet bag for storage or to give as a gift.I give the medallion 5 stars; the necklace 1 star.

I will have more peace of mind while wearing this. I often think what would happen if I am in a situation where I can't tell the EMTs or first responders that I am taking 2 powerful blood thinners? I will wear this necklace, especially when I am out and about. It comes with the chain, in a tiny plastic box, with a velvet bag and a tiny plastic heart that reads LOVE. There is ample room on the medal that you could have something else engraved on there, if needed. The chain is sturdy enough to allow it to be worn all the time, even while showering. I like it.
