Works well, could be longer

It's not exactly a universally useful gadget, but for those, whom experimenting with "Franken systems", it could be very useful. For normal setups, it's pretty much just a tool to potentially help someone else out, in case they would have a different battery system.

The progression of overcast winter days has not been best for trying out this adapter cable with my portable solar panel. At one end of the cable there are MC4 connectors. It is explained at length that their, "Waterproof rating reaches IP65, which prevents moisture or dust from entering the plug." ......and socket of course.This weather proofing does not extend to the other end of the extension cable, or rather the other four ends. To accommodate connection to different makes of portable power plant there are four pigtails, or leads, terminated variously with Anderson, XT60 and barrel connectors. Only one should be used at a time, so what to do with the other three. Best not to let them dangle to collect moisture and dust. I have the spare three wrapped in cling film, then taped in a plastic bag. This blob is zip tied back to the black plastic splitter.A better idea would have been to have individual pigtails. The required pigtail would connect directly to a weatherproof fitting in place of the existing cable splitter. Neater and tidier this would have two further advantages. First, the unwanted pigtails could be left behind when travelling. Second, it would allow for the construction and use of pigtails with terminations other than the four provided.This solar extension cable is adequate but could have been so much better.
