I was expecting it to be a bit smaller as I was replacing a mini grater I got years ago and fits nicely in my hand. However, I do like the quality and look of this one!

solid compact grater with old fashioned holes not rasp square grates. very well designed and built, wonderful substantial wood handle, easy to grate cheese and keep contained without taking up too much space on table like a standard box grater.PROS- really well built, quality design- perfect compact size (bought the smaller version)- easy to store in a tumbler or boston shaker- solid wood handle, attached with 2 screws inside cone- easy to take apart.- not a rasp grater (already have microplane, square rasp grates create small shavings which not ideal for dry cheese grating)- has super fine (star shaped holes) grates, creates fine powder texture dry cheese crumbles- easy to clean, does not rust, quality metal- able to grate pushing down then wood handle on table or holding above food by the wooden handle- easy to clean with dish brush, no need for dishwasherCONS- might not enough surface grating area for each size (if so buy larger version)- tough to screw wooden handle back together if taken apart- need to oil wood handle completely before using- tough to store inside kitchen drawers- little pricey (but worth it because of compact size, quality build)- holes are sharp and might be dangerous if carless handling- wood handle might warp, crack in dishwasher- wood handle needs oiling (mineral oil) on a infrequent basis

I took 2 pictures because I thought you could see the size with the salt pepper. I wanted something with a small footprint. This is exactly what I was looking for. It’s the right size, the wooden knob on top fits in my hand perfectly. I grated some turmeric then washed the grater and oiled the wooden top with olive oil while it was still damp it looks and feels great! It washed fine. After all it is a grater. It’s an elegant addition to my counter top favorites! Enjoy
