The contents are exactly what the title promises. Christmas sons arranged for beginner level - the tunes are simple, with notes for both hands and numbers to help with finger placement in most songs. The accompanying audio files help a ton to practice the songs. There are quite a few classics included but also some others that I am not aware of, but still they look fun to play.All in all, a good buy for beginner piano players wanting to add extra christmas spirit.

I really enjoy this book! There are many Christmas carols in there for beginners, they are perfect for my piano lesson students.

I think this book is well-made for beginners or early learners of piano. The staves are printed large and clear (very easy to read for those just learning), and the musical notes and suggested fingerings are clearly annotated. I really like that Sontig Press provides the audio files for free for you to learn along with. The font and layout is nice for children while not being too childish for adults.

Received this book just in time to practice songs leading up to Christmas.The book is perfectly suited to absolute beginners. It had the letters as well as the finger positions above and below the music staffs. But if that is an issue, you can hide it with post it notes. The songs are nicely arranged & suited to beginners, with C, F & G major scales, so nothing too complicated.The song collection are classic Christmas songs, with some international songs that I was not familiar with but sounded beautiful just the same.The book comes with downloadable audio, so you can hear what the song is meant to sound like, which is very helpful.I have 2 other books of theirs in my collection (Primo Piano & Timeless Piano Classics) & they have been a boon to my piano learning experience. Highly recommend!!!

I gave this book to my niece who plays piano. She had so much fun exploring different songs, and she can’t wait to play them on Christmas. Our family will have a chance to get together and enjoy more beautiful music. She is already so happy to practice!

This book accomplishes exactly what it claims. There is a good variety of Christmas songs in here, not just in level of difficult, but in origins of the songs and styles as well. It couldn’t be used as a lesson book as there isn’t any increasing theory or explanations, but this book would be a great purchase for piano teachers with students at a variety of ages. It makes for an easy additional challenge around the holidays, and works very well to improve on sight reading with students who have been playing for a little while now but want to improve their rate of recognizing the notes within the grand staff.I will say if you have a very young child, from 4 to 8 depending on the individual just starting out, this is not the book to order. Every song uses the staff and has skips of some type.Quality wise it’s very sturdy, I personally prefer books without any semblance of spine so that they’ll lay flat when opened, but with creasing or clip binders this works just fine. It’s more durable with this type of binding.

The 2 levels of beginner are those who aren't yet fluent in reading musical notation, perhaps struggling somewhat to recognise which is D, F, B flat etc. These beginners need only recognise which octave the notes are in, ie D above middle C, or D above C an octave higher. Then, they can play by reading the notes as written above the treble and bass staffs. The finger numberings are written as superscript to each written note.The other beginners being those who are fluent in reading one note at a time. It is easy to ignore the written notes and just note the fingering while playing the carol.I checked out the non-English speaking carols using as music subscription service named after a crunchy fruit. All were available. The audio files sound good.I've been playing piano and learning to read music for about 18 months now. I wish I had access to this songbook after about 6 months. As well as C major scale songs, this has some F and G major songs, which would have put me off at six months if not for the fact that this book tells you to play B flat every time, instead of having to remember to play it from memory.I hope more books are released in this format for beginners.
