Instant Tin Whistle Irish

i'm actually a death metal guitarist, but as i get older my Irish roots are calling. always loved the sounds of the tinwhistle and this book gives you an instant introduction into this wonderful instrument. i already have speed in my fingering from my extreme guitar background, but this book really makes learning easy. no musical knowledge needed with its own whistle tab...great buy.

I've only been playing the tin whistle for three months and this has become my basic book. It covers a lot of simple exercises at the beginning and then goes into many popular Irish folk songs. The one thing I regret, is that I bought this book used and it didn't come with a CD with it, and therefore many of the songs that I haven't heard I find difficult to play, because I don't know what it is supposed to sound like. I also wish that this book had gotten away from the constant fingering illustrations over every note in every song. I find myself following the fingering, rather than the notes, and I am afraid that this will weaken my playing in the long run.

This was a great starter book for a new beginner.The only reason it didnt get 5 stars from me was due to another book i boughtthat I did give 5 star to. Would recommend this to beginners as long as your willingto put practise in.

What a great tin whistle resource for anyone from beginner to advanced. This book is superbly thought out. It explains briefly and clearly all you need to know to get started and then provides a graded series of tunes that are fun to play - challenging but certainly playable - some well known, others less so. I fully recommend this series to anyone with an interest in folk/traditional songs and tunes. For the money it can't be beaten.

Useful to get you started. Nice guitar accompaniment.
