I bought the 74mm fostner drill bit to drill 8no holes through 150mm of seasoned oak. There is no doubt that this was going to be a VERY tough job for any drill. I own an old 570w corded drill that wasn’t even nearly big enough. I then tried a new 830w corded drill, which still couldn’t hack it. Finally, I went and bought a 1500w Titan corded drill, and I could just about manage the task. Note that as the bit is “self driving”, it means that it pulls its self through the wood at its own pace, which was too fast for oak. So, I slid the self driving centre piece out and ground off the thread that makes it self driving. I then drilled an 8mm pilot hole in the centre of the oak, and it seemed to work a treat, only cutting at the pace that I pushed the drill. The 74mm bit is designed for either an SDS MAX drill or a 13mm chuck slot. It does not work with SDS Plus. After 8no 150mm holes in seasoned oka, the bit was officially blunt and fit for recycling, however, it did the job well. The lesson here is make sure you have a BIG drill.

Meche de bonne qualité, a utiliser de préférence sur une perceuse a colonne, fortement déconseillé sur une simple visseuse quelque soit sa puissance, question de maintien, ca coupe très fort !
