I LOVED...the colour. Then I started baking with it. NO MORE burnt bottoms! I was using a DO and was always fighting the burnt bottom of loaves. The crust is nice and brown but not overly hard. Nicely Crisp. This is a complete game changer for baking sourdough bread!!! It looks beautiful just sitting on my stove.

I love this bread cloche. If you are buying this to make artisan breads at home, such as sourdough, you will want to read this review. This bread cloche is PERFECT.• It is oven safe to slightly higher than 260C (I spoke directly to the manufacturer who confirmed the exact temperature it is safe to).• You need to flour the bottom VERY heavily for the first several bakes. It will get more non-stick over time. Using parchment paper is not necessary.• You MUST either preheat both the top and bottom when you preheat the oven, or bake from cold. Do NOT put a cold cloche into a hot oven or it will crack.• DO NOT put water on this when it is hot. Let it cool completely before washing. And do not add ice cubes with your dough if you are preheating it with the oven. You should not need to add ice cubes, however, as the lid is heavy enough to enclose it completely, allowing steam from the dough to fill the cloche and help with oven spring.• When you take it out of the oven, put it on a neutral temperature surface, not something cold to the touch, like metal. Put it on a proper pot holder or tea towel, or wooden bread board. The shock from going to extreme heat to cold will cause it to crack.• This is very easy to clean. Just rinse off the flour from the bottom (or whatever you sprinkled on, such as semolina or corn meal). You can give it a light scrub if you want, but no need to use soap. The base IS dishwasher safe, but there really is no need to put it through the dishwasher. The lid is definitely NOT dishwasher safe.• The base can be used as a pizza stone. In fact, they sell just the base for that purpose.• It is natural for the colour to darken in extremely high temperatures. This does not affect the cloche.Enjoy! This is one of the best purchases I have made in my sourdough journey.
