This is the version with a steel gearbox and metal suspension arms which offers greater longevity to hard wearing parts. The new control system is a great improvement on the earlier control system. You can control the tank's movements at very realistic speeds ( A tank running at race car speed looks like a toy rather than a real tank.) The ability to adjust the sound volume from the controller as well as the exhaust smoke on / off is a vast improvement on the old system that had to be done via switches, often placed underneath the tank. The main switch for turning on the tank is now underneath the left rear mudguard instead of under the tank. When the tank is turned on the running lights will begin to flash and when the engine is started these lights will stay on permanently. This has always annoyed me with the older tanks because no tank would go into action with lights on. But now it is possible to switch the lights off when in battle mode and switch them on again for convoy travel, all from the controller. The sound system is a universal unit used by many of Heng Long's new tanks and contains a range of engine sounds that can be selected as appropriate to the tank it is fitted in, in the case the UK Challenger 2. It doesn't actually say which is the correct sound for the Challenger so a degree of knowledge of the real tank might be needed to select the correct sound. The main gun sound has the characteristic 'crack' of the real gun while the coaxial machinegun sound is also accurate, aided by the machinegun barrel emitting a series of flashes. All movements, tank steering and travel, plus turret traverse and main gun barrel elevation and lowering are very realistic. On this model the gun recoil is simulated by the whole tank recoiling. The amount of recoil is also adjustable from the controller. (Note; This model can be retro fitted with a gun barrel that does actually recoil making it even more realistic.) When it comes to adding the markings it is up to you where you put them but doing some research will help you mark the tank more accurately. One thing I will ask of you is to NOT add the markings for KFor. These markings stands for 'Kosovo Force' and was only applied to green camouflaged tanks fighting in the Kosovo theatre of operations, not on desert camouflaged tanks in the Gulf.. I have owned a number of Heng Long tanks, all good, but this tank is a quantum leap in terms of sound and control. Fully recommended.

Absolutely brilliant company to deal with. Had an issue with the gun becoming jammed. They replied almost immediately and arranged for collection, repair and return. Very prompt, honest and reliable. A pleasure to deal with (Thanks so much Andrew!!) The tank is awesome and there is one happy “grown up child” in the house!!! Not sure the dog is quite as keen though!! A must for all grown up children and an excellent company to purchase from. Will definitely use them again.
