In my earlier woodworking days, I would attribute deviations from the ideal when using a router with center guides as just something to be expected. Later I came to realize that there is enough play in the mechanism of attaching the center guide to the base of the router that except for luck, the center of the router bit and the center of the opening of the guide would be off enough that different orientations of the router would produce cuts that weren't just where you would wish them to be. Then, I discovered this little tool which aligns the center guide dead-on with the router bit. Now, there is no more problem! There are other similar products that are made of plastic that are cheaper. The greater non-deform-ability of metal I believe turns this device into a tool possessing lifetime dependability and accuracy. It is, after all, a Festool and owning several tools of this brand, the quality is second to none!

Accuracy, quality, precision these are the words that come to mind with this tried other cheaper imitations but none as good as this.
