I think these are factory seconds they aren't very polished and the scale length just fits my 34 inch scale bass

I bought these strings because I was looking for something similar to the discontinued GHS “Progressives” which also used “alloy 52.” They’re more mellow than progressives but very dynamic and musical to my ears. They sound better and brighter after a couple weeks play and have sounded the same now for at least two months with no loss in brightness or fidelity. They feel and look a little like “half rounds” which I never cared for, but they do not sound like them. There are no downsides to these strings that I can think of, except that I’d prefer an exposed core B string.

Nice, doable compromise between bright, punchy, noisy rounds and subdued, smooth and mellow flats or tapers.

Smoother than round wound strings with plenty of growl. But if you are accustom to using flatwounds the string noise will be distracting.

I’ve been an Ernie Ball user for years. The only reason I tried these is this bass is very bright and zingy. I needed some strings to tone it down. These do just that. Plus they are slightly smoother than standard round wounds. I can’t speak for longevity but as of right now, 100% happy with these.
