Zusammengefaltet ist der Schlauch erstaunlich klein, in der kleinen Schachtel hätten locker zwei Schläuche Platz gehabt. Auch das Gewicht ist überraschend niedrig. Gerade mal 35 Gramm bringt der MEROCA TPU-Schlauch auf die Waage. Das Ventil ist 45 mm lang und passt gut für flache Rennradfelgen. Der Ventilschaft ist transparent die Ventilkappe besteht aus Kunststoff.Die Montage des TPU Schlauchs ist unproblematisch und geht wie bei einem Butylschlauch. Nur darf man ihn im nicht eingebauten Zustand keinesfalls aufpumpen, sondern nur etwas mit Luft füllen, um das Einlegen zu erleichtern. Wenn man den Schlauch beim Einbau nicht beschädigt, hält er anschließend die Luft gut.Es ist kein weiteres Zubehör dabei. Dafür ist der Schlauch etwas teuer, aber der Kauf lohnt sich trotzdem.

TPU tubes are still pretty new (for me, at least) and I was a bit sceptical about the merits of an unfamiliar brand - no-one wants to be stranded roadside with a flat tyre because a shoddy tube has failed. But first impressions are good. Certainly the join where valve meets tube seems decent enough. I guess the proof of the pudding will be in the long-term, although I should add that I'm not entirely convinced by the fact that the whole valve stem is plastic. But maybe that's just me. Also, it seems a stretch to emphasise "ultralight" in the item listing - I mean, it's a TPU tube, of course it's very light. That's like saying the sun is hot or water is wet. Anyway, a cautious recommend so far, though for me the jury is still out on TPU in general.

I’m not sure if they are longer lasting than rubber and don’t agree with the claims that they are ‘puncture-proof’ but I do think they are worth the higher price.
