I used 4 of these detectors in my project for adding a parking assist to my bike rack.See photo: the led box is inside the car, containing an Arduino + custom shield (same kit in the box in the centre of the sensors). Different colours indicate the distances.I shortened the sensor cable (originally 2m50 long), so that I could fit the sensor + interface in the small enclosures. +12V power comes from the car's reversing lamp (modification at you own risk! Add a fuse!).Sensor diameter is 22mm. The detection below 20cm is a bit erratic, but for parking, 20cm is OK.(the HC-SR04 sensors work down to 1cm, but would probably not last long outdoors!).
