The hat arrived on time, and on unpacking is well made, with sturdy fastenings. I was concerned about the "one size fits all" nature of the hat, but in my case, despite being small in stature, it fitted well with only minor adjustment. The chin cord is of a leather material, and is permanently fixed, as stated in the product description. Personally I would rather this was removable, but as this is clear from the Amazon page, I will not mark it down. With the brim down, it provides good protection from the sun, and with the brim clipped up, the eyes and neck still are shaded, while retaining a stylish modern look. The mesh ventilation seems to work well, a well thought out solution to a perennial problem. I would recommend this hat as an effective solution to the problem of providing shade to the head and neck. From the way it is put together, I think it will stand the test of time, certainly for the low cost, it seems to be a very good product, and represents excellent value for money. As there is a wide choice of colours available, I am tempted to purchase another couple of hats so I can vary the look and have one set aside for working outside on those messy jobs on the car!

Bought for my teenage son for a school trip to Sri Lanka. No idea what sizing meant so ordered both. The label on the larger size says 60cm, smaller one says 57cm. Hope this might help someone else!Seems like a fairly sturdy hat, 10 days constant use will tell us so I'll update when he gets back if any problems. The hat is delivered folded, I'm hoping that rolling it differently will get rid of the creases but son didn't seem to care!

Allora, faccio una premessa, come uomo calvo, sono un estimatore di cappelli, prima per necessità che per moda.Questo mi porta a valutare il cappello non se sia 'fashion', ma se svolge la sua funzione, e la svolga con leggerezza. Il cappello è relativamente leggero, il tessuto di fibre naturali si sente eccome rispetto a quelli sintetici, sebbene ce ne siano di sintetici più che accettabili.Questo cappello, poi, si dice abbia il suo punto di forza nella falda areata.A mio parere è un punto di debolezza esiziale. Infatti il cappello, semplicemente non svolge il compito di riparare dal sole.C'è una striscia che quasi circonda l'intera falda, in questa striscia il tessuto si limita a quadratini di almeno due millimetri di diametro, disposti a rombi. Per chi l'ha acquistato, fate la prova, mettetevi allo specchio, ed accendete la luce.Vi vedete la testa? Sicuramente sì, e allora avrete la prova che anche il sole vi arriva alla delicata e sottile cute cranica, che un pelato, soprattutto, cerca di proteggere d'estate dal sole cocente.Non pensate nemmeno di usarlo tra le 10 di mattina e le 16 di un'assolata giornata di luglio o agostana, vi ritrovereste con la testa cotta.Personalmente, siccome mi piace, e mi scoccia a renderlo, ho deciso di tenerlo, ma finora l'ho usato solo nel tardo pomeriggio, o con tempo nuvoloso.Ho comunque acquistato una bandana, che svolgerò la funzione di protezione che questo cappello NON svolge, a parte che per la tesa.Inoltre, questo dal punto di vista della salute, il più importante, ma anche da quello estetico, non è molto bello si veda dalla striscia traforata la testa pelata.

I really like this hat. It is light, it fits and it looks good. I bought mine in sage green, which I really like. It has a chin strap, which is fairly basic, but nevertheless it is functional and would keep the hat on in windy conditions. There have been times when walking when a baseball cap gets whipped off, which isn't so great if you are high on a hill, mountain or cliff edge. Also a baseball cap doesn't protect the tops of the ears or the back of the neck from sun exposure, whereas this hat does.I like the lightness of the material and for me the mesh part is ok - I appreciate that bald people don't like this feature, but if you have a good head of hair, it's not a problem and it keeps the head a little cooler. The adjustment band is basic, but functional. My head size is 23" (59cm) but I find the hat fits without being too tight - it is a snug fit and there is still some adjustment left on the head band. I don't know whether the hat would be suitable for a small head size - the band could be tightened, but this might result in folds in the material, which might not look so good.I really like the ability to clip one side, the other side, or both sides up (as shown in the product page picture). If it's a full sun day and I'm hiking and couldn't care less about appearances, then I would leave the hat "floppy" to keep the sun off my ears, neck and side of face. Otherwise I would wear it with one or both sides clipped up.This is great for summer wear, but it is not waterproof or insulating. If you need something warmer and waterproof then you need a goretex or leather type, which would be much more expensive.This definitely will be used on many occasions probably mostly when hiking over 3 seasons.
